On April 18, the President of the Sofia Court of Arbitration at the International Association of Justice and Arbitration Ms Maria Yaneva and the President of the International Court of Justice in Paris (CAIP) Mr. Bauduan Delforge signed a Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions. The document states that six Bulgarian lawyers will be entered in the official registers with international judges of the International Arbitration Chamber in Paris, and French lawyers will be registered with us. The first Bulgarian lawyers who will be registered with the Paris International Arbitration are Maria Yaneva and Georgi Spasov.
The deal will be of great benefit to the native business, as arbitration cases will now be available in Sofia as well. The Bulgarian companies will be able to save considerable time for cases and means of travel, translation and more. A number of differences in national laws, which are often a problem in disputes, will be overcome. This will enable the business to be promoted.
This is the first agreement that the International Arbitration Chamber in Paris concludes with an institution from our country. A fact that is a clear recognition and proof of the high professionalism of the arbitrators of the Sofia Arbitration Court at the International Association of Justice and Arbitration. This international success is also a compliment to the entire Bulgarian legal community.
The Sofia Court of Arbitration at the International Association for Justice and Arbitration is an independent judiciary that is part of an international community. The list of courts includes authoritative lawyers who are specialists in various areas of law.
After the signing, a conference on “International Arbitration” took place. In his lecture, Mr. Delforge presented the history and development of the International Arbitration Chamber in Paris. He outlined the possibilities that arbitrage gives to business and emphasizes the importance of choosing an arbitration institution.
It was with interest the lecture of the Chairperson of the SAC, Mrs. Maria Yaneva. In it, she focused on the historical roots of arbitration and its advantages in business litigation. “The use of arbitration is an alternative option for fast, economical, transparent and effective dispute resolution,” she said.
A special focus of the seminar was the presentation of the “I want a baby” foundation. This is a social cause with which the CAC is engaged, and the chairman of the court Mrs. Maria Yaneva is also chairman of the board of the NGO. The Foundation works to provide financial support and information to couples with reproductive problems.
“Although they seem to have nothing in common, the two organizations have a very important unifying element – building trust,” said Radina Velcheva, founder of “I want a baby” Foundation. “I am grateful to the fact that a few years ago I met with Maria Yaneva and the people of this arbitration tribunal. This gave our organization a new impetus to create good for the people, “added Velcheva.
